President’s Update: A Year Gaining Momentum

It has been a positive start to the new year for NSRDA, with exciting developments that continue to strengthen our facilities, programmes, and community.
One of the highlights has been the introduction of new unmounted sessions. These focus on developing horsemanship from the ground up, giving riders with disabilities the opportunity to build confidence, improve horse handling skills, and deepen their understanding of equine behaviour.
The response from participants has been extremely encouraging, and it is wonderful to see them embracing the chance to learn and grow outside the saddle.
We have also made excellent progress with our facilities. Improvements to our driveways and tracks have been completed and have been named Winstone’s Way. This work has improved access and usability within the grounds and represents an important step forward in the ongoing development of our property. Our Trust Chair, Scott Jury, has more to report on these important improvements later in the newsletter.
Another exciting development is the arrival of three new horses. These horses will play an important role in supporting our riders, helping us expand opportunities for participation while ensuring we continue to provide safe, suitable mounts for a range of abilities. We look forward to introducing them more fully to our riders in the coming weeks. More on our new horses, including photos later in this newsletter.
As our organisation continues to grow and develop, the need for additional governance committee members is increasing. A strong governance team ensures that we remain well managed, sustainable, and deliver the best possible opportunities for our riders. We warmly encourage members of our community who have an interest in contributing their skills and experience to consider joining the governance committee. Your involvement will help shape our future.
Finally, thank you to our dedicated staff members, volunteers, coaches, riders, and supporters for their ongoing commitment. The progress we have made would not be possible without the enthusiasm and generosity of our community. I look forward to seeing the continued growth of our programmes and facilities in the months ahead.
