Deryl Monks’ generosity and legacy continues

In our previous newsletter we marked the sad passing of one of our long time Horse sponsors, Deryl Monks.   Deryl first contacted us more than 5 years ago asking for ways in which he could help us out. This may seem a normal approach, but for Deryl it was anything but.

He was already a permanent resident in Warkworth Hospital and wheelchair-bound, but his love for horses and understanding of what they can bring to people living with disability was what drove him to approach us.

He agreed to sponsor one of our horses and maintained that for the subsequent 5 years, through to him passing in late 2024.

But his connection and support for us didn’t end there. In his Will, Daryl left us a further $5,000 to continue his sponsorship and, showing the way his support for us is really long-term focused, He left a further $10,000 specifically for us to purchase a new horse for our herd.

We really can’t thank Daryl and his family enough for such stalwart support and generosity.
